Latin, jazz, funk, and folk music come together on Marbrisa’s debut solo record, Ciclos. Not unlike the transportive work of Brazilian sonic chameleon Seu Jorge or New York’s foot-stomping gypsy punks Gogol Bordello, Marbrisa also masters the art of fusing the traditional with the contemporary. '

    - Jerilyn Jordan (Detroit MetroTimes)

The Detroit based singer-songwriter started her musical journey in Latin America.  As a musical embodiment of her surroundings, she writes music that blends Latin, Jazz, funk and folk. Recently she released her second album, Ciclos, which features some of Detroit's most notable musicians ;including Sean Blackman, Ron Otis, James Simonson, and hip hop artist Mahogany Jones. This album helped her to win this year's Detroit Music Award for Outstanding Songwriter in world music. Wether on a bus in Guatemala, in a 10-piece band at Detroit venue Otus Supply,  or in Cuba's Casa de la Trova, her love for performing has pushed her to perform throughout various platforms. She plans on touring her new album this coming fall.
